Thrice "Beggars"

Sorry on the lack of updates. We promise to get back on the ball. Something we haven't done in a while is mention some of the new tunes we are listening to. I am a huge Thrice fan, I would even say they are my favorite band that consistently makes amazing album after album, pushing themselves as artist. Their newest album "Beggars" is another great album to add to their growing catalog. The albums lacks the heavy feel and moves to a more groove base which is a nice change for the band. Stand out tracks are "The Weight" "In Exile" and "Beggars". I definitely recommend you buy the physical cd which comes with 5 bonus tracks that are equally as great as the other tracks. Thrice if you read this for some strange reason we would do anything to do some design and/or illustrations for you =)

Documenting

We've been documenting all week our day-to-day projects, activities, and sketching for Doodlers Anonymous who will be graciously posting all of that nonsense. Here's a little sketchle for you in the meantime. We're working on moving the blog to something other than Blogger's poop portal. Cheers!

New Work & A Nice Update

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. We've been too busy playing racquetball and documenting a day-in-the-life of Jolby feature for Doodlers Anonymous which should appear in a few weeks or so. Above is our latest work for Brunch Box, a food cart here in Portland that holds the trophy for the Best Burger in Portland. We love their food and are stoked with how the tee came out. Click the pic to see all of the detail inside the design.

Other things going on: Urban Outfitters posters (through Tangible), our show with Ashley Forrette, Iron Wolf Racquetball matches, and our zine is currently being sold at Powell's Books, Grass Hut Gallery, Artful Goods, Together Gallery and more to come. Josh's Bali Work

A while back Josh finished a body of work called *Balance - A Journey Inspired by Bali, Indonesia. Coming back from the trip, he brought with him Bali-inspired patterns, stories, and moments that he turned into super rad art. We've put all of it on jolbyandfriends.com for your viewing enjoyment. Some of the pieces will be available as prints very soon.

1 Day Left: Secret Goodies!

In addition to the zine and prints available at the show, there are two secret goodies to be found by show-goers.

The first are these super awesome hand-sewn mustache pins that were made in a lot of different colors by the awesome Shoko Saito. Friends of Jolby will be sporting them tomorrow night and the rest will be given out in some sort of random order at the show.

The second goodie is the "King & Queen" 24" x 30" print. Only 10 will be available as giveaways for the first 10 purchases on opening night. And that's a dude's butt, just in case you've been staring at it.

Show Dedication

"&1: Everyday Shenanigans" is dedicated to Roberta T. Kenyon.

Roberta's battle with lupus ended Tuesday, August 4th. She will be greatly missed as a mother, as a friend, and as Jolby's biggest supporter.

On top of the zine and the screen prints, we are also selling a limited edition set of 6 screen printed cards that come in a small chocolate envelope. A big thanks to Shoko who's been lending us a helping hand and also making some hand-sewn goodies that you'll see being worn at the show. More to come!

Holy poops the show is this Friday! Josh and I are working on an original painting for the show that will be the &1 logo gigantic with some other doodles on it. Here's the work in progress. Some sweet updates coming this week as we get closer to the show!

If you've been counting down with us you have probably seen a healthy sampling of the zine and show. Today's post is another generous dosing of show preview! Accompanying our first zine at the show will be 9 limited edition screen prints and a screen-printed card set hand-pulled by our awesome friend Keegan who makes up 1/2 of Keegan Meegan Press & Bindery.
