Colby Work: "I Suck at Life"

One of the strangest things I've been commissioned to draw/paint, but fun nonetheless. Acrylic and pen on chipboard. Mondays blow.

Jolby's Closet: Urban Tailor

Ever wanted to create your own all-over-print hoodie? Pick the patterns, precise cuts to fit your curves (or lack of), where the pockets go, hidden zipper, and even fabric colors? Urban Tailor knows you do, and they're giving you the chance for a pretty reasonable price (especially for a one-off). I recently ordered one of their pre-made one-offs (above) and everything about it from the construction to the fabric weight is incredible. Get you some.

BANDS THAT WILL ROCK YOUR FACE: Colour Revolt

We wanted to share the Colour Revolt with everyone that has never heard of them. They are a band that is a huge inspiration for both Colby and I when we are designing/illustrating helping us dive deeper into our work just as they do with music and the experience of listening to them live. Check them out and go see them live it's amazing.

Colby Work: There is Life After All

Part of the So-Cal Fire Poster Project, and in collab with Clarissa V. Zorr, this 15.25" x 24" letterpressed, hand-treated poster can finally be purchased with 100% of the proceeds being given to the Salvation Army for the 2007 California Wildfire Fund.

The Wood Creature illustration looks insane letterpressed and the above pic does the printing process no justice at all. You can buy them through the So-Cal Fire Poster Project's site or directly through me. However, you'll get a randomly treated poster since every one we did is unique. Exciting, eh? Printing generously donated by In To Ink.

You can also view a small gallery of our various treatments on various paper stocks on my site.

Artist We Love: Mars-1

About two years ago I found out about Mars-1 and since then have been in love with his work. Take a look and be mind blown with his insane atmospheric creations. Have a good weekend. FYI Colby might be a lady

Artists We Love: Andrew Holder

We recently found Andrew Holder and definitely wet-the-pants over his illustration. Check it. Josh wants this jelly piece (above) for his birthday, so if anyone wants to be extra amazing, buy it for him but ask for something ridiculous in return. Like his first kid or something. I'm sure he'll make ten or so and they'll all come out with jellyfish legs.

Artists We Love: Josh Cochran

Josh Cochran has always impressed me with his color palettes and great line work. He also has a letterpress machine in his studio which gives him many Jolby points. Check out Josh's work and make sure you buy a print while you're there.

JOLBY WORK: Andy Frasco limited edition tees

We created three limited edition tees for Andy Frasco that will be sold online and on his upcoming tour. He wanted a tee that expressed music without having his name on it so we thought these fit perfect with that idea. Click on the pictures to see them nice and big. We will post where you can buy them very soon. Thanks

Jolby Work: "Caffeinated Scribbles" mini mini zine

I drew this 3" x 2" mini mini zine spread-by-spread while losing my mind on caffeine. I put the zine together first using a cardstock and then drew the content. There's a message throughout the book. See the whole book animated here. Enjoy!

JOSH WORK: Chicago Tap Project

I work for Tangible Worldwide in Chicago and recently we became very involved with the Chicago Tap Project, part of the nationwide Tap Project. They basically raise money and awareness about the water problems around the world. It's a great cause and we were honored to design those two posters that we will put up around the city during world water week were you go to restaurants and bars and donate $1 for tap water. These posters are also being produced into screen prints but I'll have more on that later. For now check out the Tap Project and see if this is happening in your city too. Thanks

Corey Warning from The Graduate's new ink

Corey, the lead singer of The Graduate, sent me this pic of his new tattoo which is of one of my pieces called "The Very Near Future." I'm very humbled and I'm stoked that he got it done. Happy Friday.

Jolby Work: In the Cooker/Marination

Hey peeps. We're getting ready to call it a day on Andy Frasco's album art and we can't wait to show you guys. It's looking pretty gnar. We've also got some work we're doing with an apparel line that's shaping up nicely. Bananarump. More to come.

JOLBY WORK: Sneak Peek

So I am working on a huge piece for a friend and this is one of the panels in the painting. I have never painted a whale before but it turned out pretty cool. Let me know what you think.

Bands That Will Rock Your Face: Flight of the Conchords

So, these guys are nothing new, but I've been talking to a lot of people lately that blank when I tell them "it's business time," or when I try to do a roll-call before a lunch meeting starts ("Murray, check"). The indie/folk/comedy duo of Flight of the Conchords is hilariously dry and cozy all at once while they spew their comedy through songs and skits. They've even got an HBO series due to return for its second season later this year. Give a listen.
