As I mentioned a few days ago, I'm slowly working on a mini zine that is going to be a collection of random thoughts and inkings that are floating around in my brain. Above is a crop of one of the spreads. I'll post more as I draw them with the hopes of actually finishing it for your pretty face to see.

TATTOO
So Saturday I met with Patrick Cornolo and started on my tattoo. It turned out amazing he did a great job and it looks like I will be doing a full sleeve so I am excited to get my next tattoo. Here are some pics that my amazing wife took. Enjoy, have a great day.

Ziney Zim Zam
A few days ago, I went to watch Mark Murphy speak in Downtown San Diego at an AIGA event. The event was incredible and everything he said really hit home for me. The thing that I left with was basically this: If you want something, drop everything and make it happen or else it won't. So, for the longest time I've wanted to make a zine and I started on it last night.
It's probably going to be pretty raw and just a spatter of ideas, but I'm excited to throw myself into it even though I don't have the time to really do it right. It just needs to get done! I'll post pages as I draw them and my only teaser is that it has something to do with 'the wolf.' Definitely expect some Jolby team up inside as well. Happy Friday.

ArtWalk San Diego: April 26 and 27, 2008
Make sure you get to the bottom of Beech street to check out Subtext and Igloo where both stores will have small booths set up and their doors open. Definitely a must if you're planning on attending. I'll have a few pieces in Subtext just for ArtWalk (one is above) along with a Nils Jawa show that should still be hanging. Hope to see you there.

"Colorful Illustrations 93°C" - Please DO NOT buy this book!
Along with charging $100 for the book, every image in it has been stolen from the community website and the websites of the illustrators featured. The worst part is all the images are included on a CD in the back. This seems to give the impression that all the featured images are copyright free which is certainly not the case. This book in no way references the LCS is anyway.
Please read below and pass this on to make sure no one supports this piece of shit by purchasing it.

Artists We Love: Invisible Creature's "Haven"
For those not familiar with Don and Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature, I'm going to give you a minute to check out that link and catch up. Once you've come back with your mind blown, feast your eyes on their latest endeavor titled 'Haven: An Exploration of Domestic Living." Shown as a gallery exhibition, "the Clark's pieces are inspired by their love of mid century architecture and their collectible fetishisms." You can view the show on their site (with a little bit of digging).

JOLBY UNITES TO BE AWESOMER
Monday, April 14, 2008
Hello, Portland, OR.
My girlfriend, and future wifey, has been applying to grad schools and finally made the choice to accept an offer from OHSU in Portland, OR. School starts in September of this year (5 short months away) and we'll be relocating half of Jolby from San Diego to Portland. We're super stoked and will miss everything and everyone in San Diego (frownie face). Any of our readers have any Portland info to give? Leave a comment. Happy monday.

Colby Work: "We're Sailing!"
"We're Sailing!" Paper on chipboard. While Josh and I were designing some tees, the idea for this sailboat-as-a-coffee-cup came up and I somehow got it to the point where I wanted to make it out of paper. The above has no pen or acrylic use whatsoever, just paper. I lifted the flags up to look like they were blowing in the wind. This is a new style for me, and I'm not sure what to do with it yet, but I really enjoyed making it and I'd love to make more. So, if you'd like a piece like this, let me know.

Sites that Feed Us: QBN
I've been frequenting QBN for a while now grabbing bits of artistic inspiration and finding new artists. They provide a lot of recent topics for all mediums of artists and designers including a live feed into Krop's job postings. I also use QBN to chat with designers in their Broadcast section (their forums) that live all over the world. Recent topics include: Portland, bitches getting punched in the face, Steve Harrington, and Obama. Feel the mix.

Type Lovers, meet DropClock
Alright type-enthusiasts, today's find is one to moisten your pant-areas. The above video is of a screen saver (it sounds lame, but stick with me) that displays the time which drops into liquid and sinks slowly, allowing you to appreciate its every angle. Available for PC and Mac, DropClock is pretty sweet. Happy Monday. Or should I say, "Fuck Mondays."

Blow Your Mind: Bjork's "Wanderlust"
This video has been popping up all over the interwebs, but in case you haven't seen the music video for Bjork's single "Wanderlust," made by the geniousii at Encyclopedia Pictura, then you are missing out. The concept, art direction, animation, and of course the music are all incredible.
Take a break from whatever you're doing, wait for this video to load, and let it blow your mind. It's much more stimulating than watching that viral donkey vid on YouTube or Josh's face when he read this.
